Clove trees are original from Indonesia. The dried flower buds, clove, are extensively used as spice. Cloves can be used in cooking either whole or in a ground form, but as they are extremely strong, they are used sparingly. Both the oil and the flower buds have been valued as a herbal medicine for many years. The oil contains eugenol, a strong anesthetic and antiseptic substance. Cloves are also well known for their antispasmodic and stimulative properties.
