Ashwagandha is considered the most important adaptogens in ayurvedic system of medicine. Typically found and cultivated in India, Ashwagandha has been traditionally used to treat various symptoms and conditions. In Ayurveda, the berries and leaves are applied to tumors and tubercular glands, carbuncles and ulcers.
Ashwagandha is a member of the nightshade family, although unlike other Nightshades, Ashwagandha doesn?t have poisonous attributes. Ashwagandha is known to aid people, who are stressed, overworked, or have hypertension and stress related ailments. Recent studies have attempted to popularize its use as a preliminary treatment for male infertility and impotence problem.
To use you can either add 1 teaspoon of the powder to a heavy drink, like milk, and drink once a day or boil the root to make a tea. Or you can use the roots as a tea or for external use to make a salve and rub on skin, let sit for 15 minutes and wash off.
